It was built in 1783 to protect Islamic settlement was used as an American barracks in World War II and also was occupied by Japanese troops to be used as a prison camp. Presently, there are tour information center and an open square which was made after the Philippine's Independence from the U.S. |

Magellan's Cross |

In 1521, Portuguese explorer Magellan planted a cross on the very spot where the first Filipinos where baptized. Said to possess supernatural powers, it's always crowded with people. Inside the house, there's the picture on the ceiling which tells the story of the Christening at the time. |

San Agustin Church |

The oldest religious relic in the country, San Agustin Church, is given as a baptismal gift by Magellan to Queen in 1521. The church survived fines and other catastrophes throughout the years. However, the small Jesus statue in the church was never got burned and was discovered by Juan de Camus later. He built the church there and many people worship the statue because of the reason. |

Founded in 1595, San Carlos is the country's oldest university. It's museum houses various archeological artifacts and religious relics from all over the Philippines. It also present samples of flora and fauna in the country. |

Taoist Temple |

About 6 km from downtown Cebu, there is "Beverly Hills" in Cebu where the rich people settled in. This beautiful Taoist temple is an absolute surprised in the Catholic-oriented Philippines. Going up through 99 steps; whole Cebu City and Mactan Island can be seen. Near the temple, all the rich villages are scattered in dense forest. The owners of these houses are generally Chinese who have banking, shipping, restaurant, businesses and they are the ones who have most economic powers with surprising talents in the Philippines. |

'Peso' is the Philippine currency and is available in 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 notes. Most establishments in Cebu do not accept foreign currencies expect for the US dollar. Major credit cards are accepted by most businesses. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, hotels and authorized money exchange dealers.
